The Fleet and Materials Manager plays a critical role in ensuring our field teams have the vehicles, equipment, and materials they need to safely and efficiently serve our customers. In this role, you will oversee fleet operations and toolroom/warehouse operations which include inventory management, tool maintenance, and all associated functions to support day-to-day utility operations and emergency response. You’ll lead a team, manage vendor relationships, and drive continuous improvement in cost control, asset utilization, and operational performance. JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Fleet and Materials is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of logistics operations that include Fleet management and Toolroom/Warehouse operations (Materials). This role ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective acquisition, maintenance, distribution, and disposal of vehicles, equipment, tools, and materials in support of utility operations. Specific responsibilities include supervising staff, developing and managing operational and capital budgets, leading policy and procedure development, and overseeing vehicle procurement, allocation, licensing, maintenance, inventory control, and toolroom/warehouse operations. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND CORE COMPETENCIES
- Provides strategic leadership and oversight for Fleet and Toolroom/Warehouse operations (Materials), including direct supervision of supervisory staff responsible for these functions.
- Oversees effective supervision of staff through assigned supervisors, including prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring training and cross-training, resolving conflicts, and making hiring, disciplinary, and termination recommendations.
- Develops and implements short- and long-term goals and objectives for Fleet and Materials and assists with establishing strategic goals, long-term objectives, and short-term priorities for the division.
- Develops, monitors, and analyzes operational and capital budgets for Fleet and Materials functions, including identifying trends, controlling costs, explaining variances,
- Provides strategic oversight for multiple complex, cross-functional projects related to fleet modernization, inventory optimization, toolroom and warehouse operations, safety improvements, and operational efficiency initiatives

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Associates degree in related field, and
- At least six years of progressively responsible experience in area of assignment; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
