We are seeking a skilled and dependable Equipment Mechanic to join our team at LES. In this role, you will inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of heavy equipment and machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation. JOB SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, assists with maintaining LES vehicles and equipment in accordance with LES standards, policies, safety rules, procedures, and practices. Follows directed sequence of work and determines the nature of maintenance or repair needed. Work is subject to direct supervision during progress and upon completion by a supervisor for compliance with instruction. Assists with determining the effects those alterations will have on safe vehicle operations and that equipment functions properly. Reports to the supervisor all special occurrences such as emergency situations and corrective actions taken to maintain critical equipment in service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND COMPETENCIES

Under direct supervision, makes preventative maintenance inspections of company vehicles and repairs or replaces items as necessary including but not limited to trucks, aerial devices, booms, etc.

Under direct supervision, overhauls and repairs engines, transmissions and differentials.

Under direct supervision, diagnoses mechanical problems in machinery or equipment and determines feasibility of economic repair and checks work by test driving vehicles, testing components and systems, using equipment such as compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic device.

Under direct supervision, installs and repairs accessories such as radios, heaters, augers, etc.

Follows all safety rules, policies, procedures, required trainings, etc. Performs emergency and overtime work as necessary.

• Ability to analyze and interpret reports, procedures, regulations, policies and technical shop manuals.
• Ability to inspect, repair and maintain all vehicles and mechanical equipment owned or leased by LES in accordance with LES policies, procedures and safety rules.
• Computer skills.
• Math skills (arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Associate’s degree in Automotive or Diesel Mechanics, and
• Six months to one year of related experience in the maintenance of vehicles and equipment of an electric utility, or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain within six months
