LES is seeking a motivated engineering student for a full-time internship during the summer of 2026.  The selected candidate will have the option to continue working with LES through the fall semester of 2026 as either a part time intern, or a full-time CO-OP.

 

CORE COMPETENCIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

This position is within the Transmission & Civil Design department of LES’ Energy Delivery Division. The department’s primary responsibility is the structural design of transmission lines, distribution lines, and substation civil infrastructure. This position will work under the guidance of licensed professional civil engineers on multiple projects and perform a variety of duties both in the office and out in the field. This is not a remote position and requires residency within reasonable commuting distance to LES in Lincoln, Nebraska daily. 

 

  • Assist in the design of high-voltage power lines, transmission structures, and substations.
  • Learn and work with leading industry software such as PLS-CADD, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and SAP.
  • Assist with asset management, field inspections, drafting, facility modeling, and engineering analysis.
  • Research new technologies for application to the department.
  • Collaborate with staff and management on engineering requirements and specifications.
